Qair and Lesaffre have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for green electricity from an agrivoltaic plant in Hauts-de-France. The agreement covers an annual purchase volume of around 34 GWh and will help Lesaffre accelerate its energy transition by increasing the proportion of renewable energy in its energy supply. The plant is expected to start construction in 2025, with operation scheduled for 2026, providing 68 GWh of green electricity per year and avoiding around 630 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
Qair aims to support farmers, protect their land, and secure their production through agrivoltaics. The company engages in co-financing with farmers and local partners to encourage ecological and solidarity transition through renewable energies. This partnership with Lesaffre aligns with the latter’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and energy consumption at its various production sites in France.
Lesaffre has ongoing projects to install biomass plants, wind turbines, and waste heat recovery units at different sites to further decarbonize its operations. The agrivoltaic project has been tailored to meet the needs of farmers, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable practices.
