SolarEdge acquires electric vehicle charging software startup

1. SolarEdge Technologies has acquired Wevo Energy, a software startup specializing in EV charging optimization.
2. Wevo’s software is vendor-agnostic and supports industry-leading protocols, enabling multi-user pricing, billing, and predictive load management.
3. Wevo’s solution will be integrated with SolarEdge’s EV chargers, inverters, and meters, offering a holistic view of solar production, grid consumption, and EV charging for the C&I segment.

SolarEdge Technologies has acquired the software startup Wevo Energy, which specializes in EV charging optimization and management for sites with large quantities of EV chargers. Wevo’s software supports open protocols for multi-user pricing, tiered charging schedules, load management, and other services across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Wevo is already integrated with SolarEdge’s EV chargers, inverters, and meters, providing a comprehensive view of solar production, grid consumption, and EV charging in real-time.

The Wevo solution will be incorporated into SolarEdge’s ONE energy optimization system for the commercial and industrial segment, offering customers a single platform to manage solar generation, battery storage, and large-scale EV charging. SolarEdge’s CEO, Zvi Lando, views the acquisition as a strategic move to enhance the company’s software portfolio for the growing EV market and the importance of distributed renewable energy in supporting the electrification of mobility. The integration of Wevo’s software with SolarEdge’s energy ecosystem aims to further advance EV-attached solar solutions for the future.
