First Power Generated from Orsted’s Gode Wind 3 Offshore Wind Farm

Orsted’s Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farm in Germany, with a capacity of 253MW, has begun producing electricity and delivering power to the national grid. The farm, jointly owned by Orsted and Nuveen Infrastructure, generated electricity that was delivered to the offshore substation and then sent to the converter station of the transmission system operator, TenneT, before being transported to Hilenriedersiel on the Lower Saxony coast. The project consists of 23 Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200DD turbines, each with a capacity of 11MW and a rotor diameter of 200m. The nacelles are produced in Siemens Gamesa’s factory in Cuxhaven, Germany, while the blades are manufactured at the company’s site in Aalborg, Denmark. Orsted completed the divestment of 50% of the Gode Wind 3 project to Nuveen Infrastructure in December.

Peter Obling, head of central Europe at Orsted, emphasized the strong investor interest in offshore wind farms and the company’s commitment to supporting the green transformation in the German market. In the coming weeks, 22 additional wind turbines will be installed at the Gode Wind 3 site. The project marks a significant step towards renewable energy production in Germany and contributes to the country’s ambitious goals for clean energy generation.
